Concussion Rehab Built for Movement.

We help you navigate the path from injury back to training, sport, and the activities you love, safely and effectively.

Expert care for active recovery.

We specialize in helping active individuals recover from concussions. Whether you’re training for a marathon, playing competitive sports, or simply looking to return to daily life without a "fog."

Our approach aligns with Parachute Canada’s guidelines and moves beyond traditional rest-based recovery. We combine expert clinical assessment with targeted rehab to address:

  • Dizziness and visual disturbances

  • Persistent headaches and neck pain

  • Exercise intolerance and fatigue

We don't just wait for symptoms to disappear; we work with you to safely reintroduce activity, monitoring your physiological response to exercise every step of the way. From your first walk to your full return-to-sport progression, we provide a structured, data-driven plan to get you back stronger and smarter.

3 Pillars of Our Personalized Concussion Program

  • Understanding why you feel the way you do is the first step to recovery. We demystify your symptoms to reduce the "threat" response. When you understand your limits and how to interpret your body's signals, recovery becomes less scary and far more manageable.

  • The old advice was to sit in a dark room; the new science says movement is medicine. We guide you through a structured pacing and sub-symptom exercise plan. By finding your "sweet spot" for activity, we help you build tolerance and return to work, school, and sport faster and without the "boom-and-bust" flare-ups.

  • A concussion is rarely just one issue. It’s an intersection of the vestibular system (balance), the visual system, and the cervical spine (neck). We assess and treat all these systems simultaneously, creating a multisystem rehab plan that reflects the complex demands of being an athlete.

Your Recovery Timeline

Timing is everything with concussion management. You don't need to wait for your symptoms to "go away" before seeing us. In fact, early intervention is the best way to prevent persistent issues.

Book an Assessment if:

  • Within 24–72 Hours: You’ve had a recent impact (fall, collision, or whiplash) and are experiencing "red flag" symptoms like brain fog, light sensitivity, or nausea.

  • The "Plateau": You felt better initially, but your recovery has stalled, and you can’t seem to get past a certain level of activity.

  • Exercise Triggers: You feel fine at rest, but as soon as your heart rate rises during a run or workout, your symptoms return.

  • Chronic Symptoms: It has been more than 4 weeks since your injury, and you are still struggling with headaches, dizziness, or neck pain.

Concussion and Return-To-Sport FAQs

  • Every brain is different, but the "dark room" era is over. We typically begin sub-symptom threshold exercise within days of the injury. This involves finding the exact heart rate where you feel safe and symptom-free, then gradually increasing it. We use a structured 6-step return-to-play protocol to ensure you aren't guessing.

  • We start with a comprehensive history to understand the nature of your injury and how it’s specifically impacting your life and training. We’ll perform a detailed rundown of your symptoms, looking at everything from sleep and mood to your tolerance for light, noise, and physical exertion.

    The physical assessment typically includes:

    • Cervical Spine Screen: Checking your neck for stiffness or pain that mimics concussion symptoms.

    • Vestibular & Ocular Testing: Assessing how your eyes and inner ear coordinate during movement.

    • Balance & Autonomic Testing: Seeing how your heart rate and stability respond to different positions or light activity.

By the end of the session, we will collaborate on a clear action plan with specific milestones to get you back to your sport.

A Note on Symptoms: It is normal to feel a temporary, slight increase in symptoms immediately after your assessment or certain rehab exercises. This is a natural part of "re-training" the system. However, most patients find that addressing the root cause provides meaningful relief and a sense of control right away

  • Yes! It is very common for a concussion to be accompanied by a neck strain (whiplash). Because the vestibular system (balance) and the neck work together to tell your brain where you are in space, treating the neck is often the "missing link" in resolving dizziness and headaches.

  • While a physician or nurse practitioner must provide the final medical clearance in many organized sports (per Parachute Canada guidelines), we provide the functional clearance. We perform the testing, monitor your progressions, and provide the clinical data your doctor needs to sign off on your return with confidence.

  • Successive concussions require a more cautious approach. We look at your "concussion history" to see if there are underlying visual or vestibular weaknesses from previous injuries that were never fully addressed, helping you build more resilience for the future.
