Massage Therapy
A powerful tool to help you recover better, overcome injury, and run your absolute best.
Running demands a lot of your body. Our Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are soft tissue experts who help you meet those demands.
Our RMTs go beyond simple relaxation (though we’re here for that, too!). Using a blend of deep tissue work, myofascial release, and joint mobilization, we work directly on the tissues that power your stride. By addressing the impact of repetitive movement and high-intensity activity, we help you restore function, manage fatigue, and stay resilient.
Our RMTs frequently work with clients managing:
Common Running Injuries: Plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and IT band syndrome.
Muscle Tension & Fatigue: Chronic tightness in the calves, hamstrings, and hip flexors.
Joint Stiffness: Reduced range of motion in the ankles, hips, or lower back.
Nerve Entrapment: Symptoms like tingling or numbness associated with tight musculature.
Stress & Fatigue: Helping the body transition from a "fight or flight" training state into a "rest and digest" recovery state.
If you find joy in moving your body, massage therapy is for you.
Whether you are a "track star" chasing a PB, a "couch to 5K" beginner, or simply managing the physical toll of a busy daily routine, we work with you to ensure that you’re ready to tackle your goals feeling confident in your body. We combine experience working with athletes of all levels and our own joy from experience pushing our bodies with clinical expertise to restore function to your musculoskeletal system, helping you stay consistent, resilient, and ready for your next run.
We Know Runners Because We Are Runners
We don’t just treat runners; we live the sport. Our "sweet spot" is the intersection of clinical expertise and a genuine obsession with all things running (yes, we did follow the marathon last weekend, and also yes, we are stoked for the upcoming track season!).
-
The Right Strategy for your training
We don’t provide a "one-size-fits-all" massage. We adjust our treatment based on where you are in your journey, whether it's a pre-race tune-up, the rigours of peak training, or post-race recovery.
-
The "Right" Intensity
We work closely with you to find your specific "sweet spot" for pressure. We know that one person’s "too much" is another person’s "too little," and we communicate constantly to ensure the treatment is effective.
-
Advanced Clinical Tools
Our RMTs go beyond traditional massage. Many of our therapists are skilled in Medical Acupuncture and Dry Needling, allowing us to target stubborn tissue and reset the nervous system more effectively.
-
A Multidisciplinary Lens
Our RMTs work alongside our Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, and Strength Coaches. Your soft tissue work is always informed by a deep understanding of gait mechanics and performance goals.
What to Expect During Your Session
We focus heavily on hands-on therapy and myofascial techniques. During every session, your RMT will:
Evaluate your needs: Assessing your current training load, goals, and how your body is feeling today.
Create a personalized plan: Mapping out a strategy that aligns with your upcoming races or movement goals.
Execute with precision: Using a combination of hands-on myofascial release, deep tissue work, acupuncture and gentle stretching.
Support your progress: Providing specific exercises or movement cues to help you maintain your well-being long after you leave the table.
Our team's deep, personal love for running is the heartbeat of everything we do.
Frequently Asked Questions About Massage Therapy
-
Not at all. We support anyone who wants to move better. Whether you’re walking, hiking, or just starting out, our therapists tailor their technique to your specific needs.
-
No. While deep tissue work can be intense, it should never be unbearable. We prioritize finding your "sweet spot" so your body can actually relax and accept the treatment.
-
Most clients undress to their level of comfort (usually leaving undergarments on) and are professionally draped. However, if you prefer to remain in athletic gear for a "sport-style" treatment, just let your therapist know.
-
A spa massage often focuses on general relaxation. An RMT at a clinical practice focuses on functional outcomes, which is a fancy way of saying that we’re on a mission to improve range of motion, treat specific injuries, and support your mechanical health.
-
A "pre-race tune-up" is great! We usually recommend a lighter, nervous-system-focused massage 2–5 days before an event to make you feel "sharp" and loose rather than sore. Make sure to let your therapist know your race timeline and they’ll make sure that they approach the session with the goal of having you race ready!
-
For post-race recovery, 48-72 hours is often the sweet spot. This allows acute inflammation to settle so your therapist can effectively help flush the tissues.
-
Yes, we offer direct billing to most major insurance providers in Ontario. We can’t guarantee that your specific plan and provider will work for direct billing, but we’re always happy to do our best to make it work.
-
Many do, but not all. If you are specifically looking for acupuncture or dry needling, please check our team bios or ask when booking to ensure your therapist is certified in these tools.
-
Often, yes. To make the changes "stick," your RMT may suggest specific stretches or mobility drills that complement the manual work done on the table.
-
This depends on your goals, symptoms and training volume. Some find a monthly "maintenance" session works best, while those in peak marathon prep or managing s epcific concern may benefit from bi-weekly sessions to manage the increased load.
Run fast. Recover hard.
Our massage therapists would love to help you maximize your recovery.
