Osteopathy for Runners in Toronto & Hamilton
Helping your whole body move in harmony.
We’re here to optimize how your entire body functions as a dynamic system.
Good manual therapy should do more than just provide a temporary fix to a single sore spot; it should untangle the underlying compensation patterns holding you back. The result is that you’ll be a more resilient athlete, less likely to face that injury again down the road.
Running injuries are rarely isolated. Instead, they’re an interplay of interconnected structures, biomechanics, and movement patterns. We dive deeper with a whole-body lens, combining evidence-based running science with skilled, hands-on techniques to identify the root causes of systemic tension and generate lasting outcomes.
Our approach blends expert structural assessment with gentle manual therapy, including targeted pressure, stretching, and resistance, to improve your biomechanical movement, circulation, and nervous supply, creating a clear roadmap to get you back to finding joy on the run.

Our Areas of Expertise
Our clinicians are run-focused experts in human movement, treating everything from acute local strain to complex, chronic kinetic chain dysfunction. Areas we specialize in include:
Knee, Hip & Pelvis: Runner’s Knee (PFPS), IT Band Syndrome, pelvic asymmetry, hip restriction, and deep gluteal pain.
Foot & Ankle: Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendinopathy, stubborn joint stiffness, and shin splints.
The Whole Kinetic Chain: Chronic low back pain, postural imbalances, rib mobility, and neck/shoulder tension that restricts your arm swing and breathing.
Specialized Care & Performance: We also have a special interest in treating tension headaches, pregnancy-related complaints (prenatal and postpartum support), and systemic restrictions (like digestive discomfort or stress-induced tightness) that impact your energy and athletic potential.
Yes, we treat it all, and while we absolutely specialize in runners, triathletes, CrossFitters, and all movement enthusiasts are welcome here.
Our team's deep, personal love for running is the heartbeat of everything we do.
What to Expect During Your Session
Physiotherapy at The Running Academy is designed to directly address your symptoms while helping you become a smarter, stronger athlete that is fully prepared for the demands of the sport. During your sessions, your physiotherapist will:
Audit Your History and Training Loads: We look at the big picture. We dive into your weekly mileage, training history, and lifestyle factors like stress, sleep, and digestion to see how they might be impacting your body's ability to heal and adapt.
Assess the Whole System: Before hands-on treatment begins, we evaluate your global structural alignment. We check how your joints, muscles, and nervous system are functioning as dynamic, interconnected systems to identify the "low-hanging fruit", or primary restrictions holding back your movement efficiency.
Deliver Targeted, Gentle Treatment: We use an integrated, manual approach to ease pain, decrease joint stiffness, and enhance circulation and drainage. Using skilled techniques like gentle pressure, stretching, and resistance, we work to restore normal physiological function to your body's tissues.
Build Your Roadmap to Resilience: You’ll walk away with a clear understanding of how your body is operating, more energy, and an actionable plan to maintain your newfound mobility so you can return to training stronger and more relaxed.
We Know Runners Because We Are Runners
We don’t just treat runners; we live the sport. Our "sweet spot" is the intersection of clinical expertise and a genuine obsession with all things running (yes, we did follow the marathon last weekend, and also yes, we are stoked for the upcoming track season!).
